The Villa Historic District
In 2007, the Villa Historic neighborhood celebrated its 100th anniversary. A close-knit community, it was built as a planned community with wide lots, boulevards, and stone planters, and today, several architectural styles remain, including California bungalows.
Haentz & Wheeler began building homes in 1907, and marketed them as “Every home a little gem of beauty and comfort, occupied by congenial, thrifty, home-loving people – agreeable to associate with.“
Located in a triangle just west of the Kennedy/Metra line (or Avondale) between Addison (3600N) and Irving Park (4000N) and Pulaski Ave (4000W). The homes are predominantly prairie or bungalow-influenced, and as properties here are held for years (or generations!), they rarely become available.
