Chicago is America’s “architecture city”, and the range of luxury homes is breathtaking.
SINGLE FAMILY HOMES
New construction and renovated grand historic mansions are both options for luxury living in Chicago. Key neighborhoods are the Gold Coast and Lincoln Park but also Lake View, Uptown, Edgewater and Bucktown/Wicker Park offer some luxury homes, too.

CONDOMINIUMS AND CO-OPS
Like Chicago’s single-family housing stock, new construction and grand vintage properties are available for luxury buyers.
VINTAGE/HISTORIC
From East Lake Shore Drive and the Gold Coast/Streeterville and north along Lincoln Park to the end of Lake Shore Drive, grand historic buildings offering gracious apartments can be found, many with spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Properties over 80 years old comprise over 20% of the condominium/co-op housing stock, with highrise buildings located primarily along the lakefront.
Unlike New York, condominiums are the predominant form of high-rise ownership. Co-ops accounted for just 2% of highrise sales in the Near North neighborhood over the last 15 years but 5.9% of LUXURY co-op sales.

NEW CONSTRUCTION
There has been significant new construction in luxury condominium buildings over the last 10 years. Architects like Lucien LaGrange and Jeanne Gang Studios have led the way in changing the city’s skyline, but there have been some significant luxury low to mid-rises added to the housing stock as well. Most of the cranes have been located in the Near North and Loop neighborhoods.

- 435 N Michigan Avenue – The Tribune Tower*
