What to love

  • The beaches

Edgewater has miles of easily accessible beaches where you can enjoy water sports or simply relax on the wide sandy shores. Hollywood Beach (officially named Kathy Osterman Beach) is a great spot for paddle boarding. Foster Beach features concession stands, a beach house, and bike rentals. Both beaches skirt the edges of Lincoln Park, so visitors get to enjoy the park’s green spaces along with plenty of water fun.

  • Great eats

Thanks to a diverse immigrant community, the food scene in Edgewater is well known for its variety. Along Broadway Street, you’ll find an array of family owned restaurants, bakeries, delis, and grocery stores offering a wide range of international flavors. Must visit eateries include Sun Wah for fantastic Hongkong-style barbecue, Mango Pickle for modern Indian flavors, and Milo’s Pita for authentic Mediterranean cuisine. An Edgewater staple is The Waterfront Cafe, housed in a historic coach house in Berger Park with lakeside patio seating during the summer.

  • Theater haven

If you love theater, you’ll have your fill of amazing productions at Edgewater. The Edgewater Theater District helps keep Chicago’s storefront theater scene alive with 23 theaters featuring live performances in intimate venues. There’s also Jackalope Theater, a community theater that produces full length plays showcasing the diversity of local talents.

  • Hours of antiquing

Edgewater is the place to be for antique and vintage finds. Broadway Antique Market, Chicago’s largest and oldest antique store, can be found right here. There’s also a host of other antique and vintage shops along Broadway where you’ll find fabulous Mid-Century pieces and so much more.
